Bank staff need to be able to evaluate proposals for investments opportunities, the contents of which is, more often than not, far outside their usual area of financial expertise. Therefore, a three days waste management course was executed to familiarize over 20 staff of the African Development Bank with basic aspects of waste management concepts, issues, processes and installations. Topics included waste generation, separation & reduction and avoidance, waste collection, land filling and its issues, stakeholders and institutions involved, and financial aspects of waste management.
